Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and analysis! First, I just want to acknowledge the elephant in the room: Critical reviews on Barbie aren't getting as many clicks/reads/boosts as the positive/more "surface" level reviews. Mostly, because people like the movie! And I get that! I loved the movie, I'm gonna go see it AGAIN, and I'm probably buying the DVD for my movie collection! BUT, that doesn't mean the movie is 1) faultless or 2) groundbreaking and inherently a feminist masterpiece. I said in my review (I'll link below for anyone interested!) that I personally don't even consider it a "feminist film" but I do think it has some feminist history and aspects! Regardless of whether its feminist or not, I enjoyed it as entertainment and found meaning with it! My favorite thing has been talking with all my friends about what they got from the movie because as it turns out, it's super subjective! For me, it was about autonomy and self-discovery/self-determination, one of my friends felt it was about growing up, the other generational trauma, and the other about embracing femininity... etc. https://medium.com/bitchy/is-barbie-a-feminist-film-my-review-5b4678c6fa4b
